Working To Secure The Long Term Future Of Bognor Regis Pier

Raising awareness and building funds
for Bognor Regis Pier

Bognor Pier Trust Awarded £10,000 Government Grant.

In April 2015, Bognor Pier Trust received £10,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF). The award will assist the Trust in developing its capacity to submit a Heritage Enterprise application in 2016. The funding will enable the Trust to carry out the necessary surveys and viability studies that will be required when submitting the Heritage Enterprise bid.

The Pier is one of 58 piers left around the British Isles, and is home to the world famous International Bognor Birdman Event that had been running since 1978. The event moved to Worthing in 2008 due to further loss of the Pier structure but made a welcome return to Bognor in 2015.

Commenting on the award, Paul Wells Chairman of the Bognor Pier Trust said: “We are delighted to have received the support of the Heritage Lottery Fund, the funding will support the next exciting steps that are required to enable us to submit our Heritage Enterprise bid later this year. The aims of the Trust’s restoration plans for this Grade II listed Pier will add to the overall regeneration of Bognor Regis seafront.”

The Bognor Pier Trust have secured further Grants from Locality,  Social Investment Business on behalf of the Department of Communities and Local Government under its Community Assets and Services Fund and Arun District Council to support our bid process.

Raising further money

As well as fundraising events and opportunities, we will be eligible to apply for major grants. We want to work in partnership with local Authorities and Businesses. We have made a great start thanks to the ex-Mayor Councillor Paul Wells who chose the Pier Trust as the organisation that he supported for his year in office and he has donated all proceeds of his events to the cause.
