Friends of Bognor Regis Pier Trust are set to deliver a Birthday gift with a difference to Buckingham Palace later this month.
Over 4000 birthday messages have been gathered by the Friends from members of the community including local schools and organisations. Messages from as far away as Australia and other parts of the world have been received through the Trust’s website.
All the individual messages have been compiled into a large specially made Album ready for the trip to Buckingham Palace. Commenting on the achievement, Jan Malpas Chairman of the Friends said: “We are delighted to have received the support of the community to compile this special album, a team of volunteers have been working on the project since February 2016 with the aim of including as many Birthday wishes as possible” The Album will be a record for future generations to look back on.
Pier Trust chairman Paul Wells said “the project led by the Friends has proved extremely popular, as a town with a Royal suffix the friends have done a brilliant job in bringing the community together to mark the 90th birthday year of Her Majesty the Queen”.
The album will be delivered by hand to the Palace on Tuesday the 25th October by the friends who will make the trip to London.
